No matter who he could possibly be dating -man, woman, transgender, nonbinary, or any other- he would always be bisexual, and that was just how it was. Wasn't a straight pretending or a fake queer, because that B was within LGBTQ+ for a reason. Also didn't mean he'd just grow bored of whoever, didn't make him any more likely to cheat, or all the other nonsense those on either side could come up with. That was all that needed to be understood, "I'll love who I love, and that so happens to be you," Without question. Gabriel did snort a bit, "And that's all."
Could sound like no big deal, and maybe saying it like that could help with some lingering nerves about the ever hanging ginormous impact of it all. That the possible future of humanity was hanging in the balance of this war being won. With or without them.
But of course he couldn't help but laugh- and lean over to steal a bite of that slice that Jack had picked up before he was ruffling blond hair affectionately, easing back. "Of course. Having to sneak away and hide somewhere to have it out."
Jack was completely trusting of Gabe and expected that while they were dating, they would not stray from each other. He had no concerns that the older man would stop to admire or make a move on a woman, man or someone in between those genders. He was a gay man who was deeply attached to a bisexual man, and that was perfectly fine with him. He also wouldn't stand for anyone else having a problem with it. It wasn't their business. "I'm very privileged to have earned your love. I'm going to work hard to build what we have up to something even better."
It was that easy connection they had made - apparently rare with Gabe - that made it clear that they would stick together. It wasn't even the hormones either. He just plain liked the older man, and so he would loyally have Gabe's back. He knew the opposite was true.
He blinked when Gabe had the audacity to steal a bite of his pizza slice, and he issued a faked growl and narrowed his eyes. "Hey now, we going to have to share everything now, Gabriel Reyes? I'm not sure I signed on to share my very delicious pizza slice." No, he totally had, and he was more endeared with it too. He leaned in to steal a kiss and swipe his tongue across Gabe's lips. "I say we challenge each other to find all the fun odd places no one would think to look for us in the field."
Was no one's business but their own. "Looking forward to doing that together," because he'd grown to love Jack Morrison over their time here, enjoyed his company even in the foulest of moods. Just never imagined things would push back some sort of deep friendship, so this was a... good surprise, even if at a strange time in both of their lives and the world at war.
"Too bad, because you most certainly did sign on to share your pizza slice, and just about anything else with me." That sweet tone paired with something akin to reading off the last rights. Even dared to lick his lips of a bit of sauce on them from taking that bite-
Only for it to brush against Jack's when he leaned into still a kiss and a lick, laughing a little as he returned both. "A fun little game in the midst of hell."
He couldn't help the sunshine smile that appeared at Gabe's agreement, that what they had now and would build would be together. It wasn't even the hormones anymore. It wasn't a bonding bite influencing either of them to roles that might force their hand otherwise. This was honest to God commitment. "Yes. Me too. We're going to do wonderful things together."
He pouted even more, but he also wasn't going to protest much more. Definitely something he had signed on for. "The same goes for you. Don't be surprised if you wake up to my burrowing your razor or sneaking extra food into your pack so you can haul it for me." He laughed and nudged Gabe next to him, taking a bite of his pizza.
He hummed at the kiss and lick. "We need it. Might be the only way we stay sane."
Honest to God, uninfluenced, commitment to each other through a bond of friendship and trust that had been built together just from getting to know each other. Reason that spending a week together due to suppressants failing had just had them finally broaching a subject neither of them would have likely touched otherwise. Hell of a push-coming-to-shove moment there. "We really, really are."
Gabriel couldn't help the laugh- "Just be warned, any extra food in my pack means I may be the one who ends up eating it," a low tease, "But I can be persuaded to share all food in my pack if you know how to persuade me, Jack." The razor wasn't a big deal at all, but at present was the food snatching going on. Nudging right back.
Maybe the kiss had lingered a bit, further proof earlier was all teasing. "Got to keep each other grounded."
He couldn't be angry or upset about their suppressants failing both of them, since it had brought about a good kind of change to their relationship they may not have taken otherwise. War made bonding that tightly dangerous, and they were both in positions to take heavy damage and be at a higher risk of being killed. He wouldn't ever regret this though, the opportunity to settle into this.
He nudged their shoulders together, taking another bite of his pizza and chewing thoughtfully. "Well... I do have the role of provider, right? So I should replace all your pack space with food and carry all your kit." He nudged at Gabe gently, teasing. Neither of them could even bother to claim to any kind of traditional roles. "No, it's fine. I'll just starve. You must go one. You're my mate." He offered his own razor smile.
He hummed in reply, eyes half closing. "You definitely keep my head on straight."
They would take what came at them together, as a united front- and maybe be a bit more viciously protective of each other out on the battlefield. They'd manage, and maybe even thrive that much more together.
"Let me just carry all of the food and you do the heavy lifting?" Shoulder pressed a little more against Jack's with his nudging, laughter clear in his eyes as he tried to keep something of a straight face. "How could I ever say no to that sort of offer? Big strong Alpha~" That was when the expression cracked enough before he was shifting so he could eat some more pizza himself- "You're terrible and I love you."
It was just so easy to relax like this, "And you help me with mine." He could get so used to it.
Jack was looking forward to serving with someone whom he trusted and would protect as much as possible. It wouldn't empty the threat of danger that came with war, but it certainly made the idea of it less of a dutiful slog. He had something and someone to protect who was so tangible, scent filling his nose and physically present with him every step of the way.
"Sure, why not? You're going to be doing all the commanding anyway, so I may as well lighten your load in other places," he replied with a smirk, and he nudged right back because of course he would. "Your big strong Alpha. I'll even take a bullet for you," he joked, even if it was also true. He just knew that Gabe would take one for him too. "I know, and I love you too."
He returned to his own pizza, enjoying himself as the movie ticked by. "Nice to have someone I can trust as much as I do you."
"My big strong Alpha mate," He purred those words right against Jack's ear, all the better for him to hear, "Who will take such good care of me, especially during my continued heats." Since they'd already worked out that Gabriel would only be going back on suppressants 'officially' on paper alone. May as well make it clear that was going to definitely be kept, even if in such a terribly teasing manner.
Already knew Jack'd likely be willing to take a bullet for him, like he would be willing to do in turn as well.
Sank comfortably against Jack, enjoying movie and pizza along with the close company. "Always good to have, really. Felt like that even before this."
He tipped his head towards Gabe's lips, and he didn't even bother to hide the shiver that ran across his shoulders and down his spine at such emphasized words, glancing over. "Don't forget that we're the same height and size," he murmured. He knew Gabe was fully capable of taking care of himself, and Jack would simply be his support. Hell, he'd hold the omega's coat while Gabe knocked some people around if it came to that. "But I will take care of you when you need it, especially in your heats. Treat you right." He nuzzled Gabe because he could tease and be serious at the same time.
He liked to think that was one of the differences for them. They valued one another's strength and would support and uplift rather than domineer.
He leaned down to take another bite of his pizza, chewing it thoughtfully. "Does this mean you'll give me more rein to haul off in combat?" He had a reputation for launching head-long, leading with example to the extreme.
There was a little Shhing sound at the murmuring- "Paint the fantasy while knowing the reality," it was still a tease if the chuckle at the end of those words was anything to go by. They'd have each other's back and support one another as they had been already, he didn't expect any of that to change. They would just grow far more closer that much quicker, in a way at least. "Oh, you've already shown just how right you will treat me during my heats. That's for damn sure." Nuzzling right back with a soft sound.
He didn't for a moment doubt that Jack would stand back and enjoy a show if Gabriel ever needed to knock some heads together. Hell, might have to do that later on once he finally stepped out on the floor during the first training session.
Gabriel gave Jack something of a sidelong look before he shifted and Jack would find himself with a lapful of Gabe himself, straddling his lap, and hands set back against Jack's knees. Thighs spread, his own knees rested slightly against the back of the couch. "When it's necessary, maybe."
"You want that to be your fantasy? I can put on high heels to be taller..." he murmured with a little shrug of his shoulders. He definitely would do it if it would make Gabe happy, though he couldn't say that he had ever walked much in high heels before. Of course, he had to beam at the compliment to his care of his mate during a critical time, one that could go so poorly with the wrong alpha. "I was worried for a time you were dehydrated." They probably both had been, but he had insisted on water, a snack and a bit of sleep. It was his job to keep them safe in that way.
Oh, it would be such a show and Jack would definitely enjoy the whole thing. No hesitation to just watch it all go down.
He had been in mid-lift of his pizza slice to his mouth when Gabe decided to suddenly move to occupy his lap. His arms shot up to avoid dumping his pizza on their laps and he made a noise as his eyes dipped to regard the sight before him. God this man was an amazing sight. "I mean... uh... what were we talking about again?"
"I think between the two of us?" It was a thoughtful hum in that pause, "I am probably the one that knows how to walk in heels, boy scout." But he had to say, at least to himself, that Jack would probably look lovely in heels if he didn't have to walk or something like that. Not a bad mental image at all. The corner of his mouth twitched a bit, "You took real good care, Jack. Made sure we both drank water and ate something at all." More than enough to make sure they both came out alright at the other end, even if more water was definitely needed after.
Some wouldn't care what he was, but those that did were going to get very well acquainted with the training mat, that was for damn sure.
Gabriel chuckled a bit, and tipped his head enough to steal a bite of that lifted slice Jack still had in hand. A nice and slow one at that, not breaking eye-contact with the Alpha once it had been made. "How we're going to make a wonderful team in the future."
"I know how to walk in them!" He just didn't do it well for a lack of practice. So Gabe probably looked better in them, but he could manage. If push came to shove and it would make Gabe's day, he would definitely try to find a pair to walk around in, but that all a scenario for another day. It didn't seem likely they were leaving their quarters for the rest of the night. "Well... if I had known it was coming on, I would have stalked up with better snacks." He had wanted to take care to keep them both with good energy and hydration.
He wrinkled his nose but didn't protest Gabe taking some of his pizza slice. That was fine and it was expected. They would probably be sharing a lot of things now, food included. He took a bite once Gabe was finished, chewing thoughtfully. "I think we will. We so far have worked well together. Our strategies are complimentary."
His shoulder brushed against Jack's, humming low in his throat. "Well, just means you've got to be ready for the next one, right?" Even if it would be easier to deal with, there'd still be that time where Gabriel was likely to keep in bed given the chance to have one. Need that extra bit of attention and care.
"All the more reason I was already planning on taking you with me, there's an argument to be made that dividing us would halve our success rate simply because of how well we balance." From physical performance to strategy. They just knew how and where to pick up for the other without missing a beat. Something that could give them a real striking edge to this war and have that much more of a chance to survive. How he'd written up all of his potential assignments of others; paired them with who they worked wit the best.
Jack sighed as if expecting the worst, like Gabe might fly into a heat by tomorrow. He knew that wasn't true, and he fully intended to stock up on snacks from home or the local grocer once he was allowed off base to get them. There was no way he was allowing them both to go through another heat without being properly prepared. "Don't worry, handsome, I'll have you covered when the next one rolls around. I'm not used to being caught with my pants down like that, but you definitely surprised me." As only Gabe seemed to be able to.
He nodded his head, taking another bite of pizza as well. "I completely agree with that assessment. We've been training long and hard to be a good paired unit just like everyone else, and I suspect our response time to each other will double now." And really, that's all the military and the government wanted, wasn't it? They needed an edge in combat and if this was it, they would take it. War required sacrifices.
Well, there was a brief little kiss pressed against Jack's cheek with so much behind that short bit of affection. "Know that I can trust you with that one, boy scout." A little teasing right along with it, like everything was so normal even with something so much more added, still very much them.
Finished off his slice, Gabriel not going for another slice immediately. "Exactly. They'd be fools trying to separate us over this if any of them even try to suggest it, and there's more than enough proof of it I can pull up in training vids." Of course there were recordings, it's how he knew how others paired together as well. "I might have to remind some people just who it is they're talking to, but I can deal with that when it comes."
It was a good judge of their choices and care for each other to have such trust. In Gabe's more vulnerable time, it was his job to keep the omega protected and as healthy as the difficulties of a heat would allow. "Good. Your trust means a lot to me." Said seriously even if Gabe had been teasing at him. Gabe was an excellent soldier with an excellent judge of character after all.
Jack was still working through his own piece, and he was just as happy for it. While most of his attention was on his mate, his eyes occasionally flicked to the movie that was playing. "I know for a fact that you're too stubborn to allow us to be separated. You get what you want, especially since you're in command of the SEP soldiers and we know how you handle large-scale war. Plans upon plans and all of them adaptable." God, Gabe in action was such a thrill to watch. Took apart all arguments in a logical and almost scathing way at times.
The corner of his mouth twitched a bit, catching Jack by the jaw with a hand so he could press more of a kiss to him. "Trust you with my life, Jack. Now you just get all of it and more." Get to spend the rest of that life with him and everything with how things had turned out for them.
He let Jack go back to his pizza then while he was still, well, thinking over exactly what he had to be prepared for tomorrow. Gabriel knew he had everything in the bag, it would be stupid to argue against him just because his heat suppressants failed him; they all knew he was an omega; paranoia was just a hell of a thing. Knowing this just made it clear to all of those under him, how a few of them would act while most wouldn't look at him differently. "All the reason I'm going to be ready for tomorrow." Which Jack would get to see once he was in front of the other soldiers again.
Jack was definitely the loyal type, and the fact that he had earned himself a mate that would hopefully be life-long just settled him into a sense of peace about the whole affair. He leaned into that kiss, smile on his lips because of it. Really lucked out walking in that day. "So do you. I'm not going anywhere, so you're stuck with me for the long haul."
He was finishing off his pizza slice, not nearly as pressured as Gabe was when it came to command. He had been ribbed a little by some of his friends, but otherwise, he had been left alone. It wasn't smart to be teasing an alpha so soon out of a rut and having taken a mate; he could be unnaturally testy and protective for a bit. He looked over at his mate as he wiped his mouth with a napkin at the mention of tomorrow and reached out to cup the omega's face. "It's going to be fine. A little rough questioning as they always do, but you're in command. They can't take it away from you because something they gave you failed. It wasn't in the field, no one died, and if anything, you can press the advantage that you are now more 'controlled' because of it." Alpha and omega pairs tended to react only off of each other after all.
With how it could have gone- well, Gabriel couldn't think of a better outcome between what might have been. Kiss was soft and sweet, just for the time it lasted. "Seems we're in agreement then," in for the long haul, whatever that may be.
There was a slight widening of eyes, more out of surprise at his face being cupped, but Gabriel leaned in to Jack's hand and let out a slow breath. Growing tension melting out of him. "No worse than anything I've gotten before," which didn't even have to do with what he was other than being in command and how dire the situation was growing. This jut felt a hell of a lot more personal than anything. "Means they can't try to move you off to another team either." There was too much at risk, and he could argue all of the advantages it would give them.
Be stupid to try and change anything he'd already written up, too. "No worry about me distracting any other alphas out in the field."
