Had felt almost unbeatable when he had Jack at his side, man was his second during it all, and there was no one better to act or be such a thing during it all. Even during the moment that recklessness had him dragging a severely wounded Jack behind cover, had done it nearly as much as he'd needed to do the same with Gabriel. Turned out well because as much as he trusted Jack without a thought he'd almost had confidence in those men and women he led. Bled in to how he ran Blackwatch as well, talking to Jack before he made a complete decision when it was something he knew could blow back.
They could pull each other through this new war, but they needed to get their feet under them and get in to a place where they could both stand firm. Needed that time.
"I'm giving you that choice, since whichever you pick I can make it look natural so it won't bother you too much," Because it was Jack's hair. Head tilted as he pressed a kiss so very carefully against the top of his head. "Lighter is easier to maintain because the roots won't be as noticeable, but I've got a few tricks if you go darker to help there, too. You wouldn't look bad as a silver fox, by the way." Let him lighten the mood, even if only a little.
That arm around Jack tightened just a little in some show of a hug when he snuggled in tat much more, some quiet little apology for getting too close to the healing wounds on his face.
"Never want to let you down, and not once have you ever let me down," even when they fought, disagreements in things going on, stresses- He was proud of the man for holding up against it all. Even if he broke at times, Gabriel tried to be there to catch him when it was wanted or needed. Knew Jack was there the same for him when it came down to it. "I love you, more than anything."
Jack had to wonder if they were falling back on old times together, when it was them against the entire Omnic Assault Forces. They had been an army of two, and while it hadn't actually solved the issue until Overwatch had been forced, they had done good work; they had saved lives; they had pushed back the enemy. Now they might be back to that, an army of two, but the war that they were playing at was vastly different and the rules had changed.
A part of him didn't want time; that meant having to think, and he didn't want to consider what had just happened. He wanted to act, wanted to move, wanted to fight... but that was so ill-advised even he knew it. That didn't mean he wouldn't try.
He sighed out a frustrated sound, but Gabe was right. It might be his choice, but he knew where they would have to go in order to seem more legit. "Fine, we'll go lighter." At this point, he suspected it was going to happen on its own anyway. "I'll be silver by the time the week is out at this rate. Stress always does that to me." He did appreciate the kiss and the compliment, but he was honestly grappling with the sheer amount of wounds he had suffered from and how noticeable the scars on his face were going to be. He was going to be easily reported based on that alone. "Don't think we'll be setting up on dates anytime soon even if I am a silver fox."
He didn't mind Gabe pressing on healing wounds. God knew they both had enough of them that it was bound to happen, and he was comfortable melting against the older man's side, fingers stroking lightly up and down Gabe's bruised ribs.
"We've got each other's back, always have." It was easy to remind one another all that they had been through, all the fights, the disagreements but in the end, all the care and dedication that they had for one another. He kissed the side of Gabe's neck then rested his forehead there, feeling the gentle throb of Reyes' pulse point. "More than anything," he agreed.
Wouldn't be Omnics they were faced off against this time either, but something far more dangerous in other senses of the word. Robots were predictable no matter how much damage they could deal out. This time they were going against a life they'd fought to protect in a way, running and hiding and dealing with people. Talon was one thing, but Gabriel couldn't believe that even they could get someone that close without having a hand from the inside.
That almost made this something so much worse.
"Honestly? You would look good silver, since you don't look bad at all with the grays you already have." Still, like Gabriel had said, hadn't been the man's looks he'd fallen in love with when they started getting to know each other. A clear bonus yes, but not the reason. "If nothing else we can crash on some couch and eat shitty popcorn or snag some take out if we feel so bold." Still trying to keep things light, because Hell if some darker thoughts weren't creeping in.
Trying not to think about why they were here and so injured in the first place. Instead focused on Jack's weight and warmth against him, keeping close with those light affectionate touches no matter the physical pain there as well.
They still had each other. "Always will." Easy and sometimes needed no matter how sure they were in it all, sometimes reminding could help soothe over certain aches and pains. Head rested carefully against Jack's, wanting to keep them both there for the moment, "So much more."
As the assaults against Overwatch had begun to escalate and the war on specific agents tasked with removing Talon insurgents had begun, Jack had quietly began to wonder how many of the UN ambassadors were being paid off to alter and tie up Overwatch with political red tape when they had had so much more freedom to operate during the Crisis. Their entire operation was to keep the world safe, to be instrumental in peace and how to keep it while also respecting sovereign border lines.
Now they were going to be running from the very people that had once instructed them for peace or stood opposite to their mandate of protect on a world scale. Was it really going to be the two of them versus the world?
He made a sound of disgust that Gabe was pointing out that he was already going silver naturally. It was meant to be a compliment, but he just felt old and worn out that way. "You're making a horrible case, you know that right? I thought you were supposed to be nice to me when I'm banged up and burnt out?" He knew that he would be going silver one way or another, so he may as well just get on with it at this point. He kissed Gabe's neck again for all the effort the older man was making in keeping the conversation light, aware that it wouldn't last. "Okay, but if we're getting pizza, I still want pineapple. I don't care what McCree had to say about it. I'm Strike Commander and I saw pineapple is fine on pizza."
So he might have found Gabe's thighs one of the best places to sleep, but he wasn't at all opposed to lining up their bodies to rest against each other. With his cheek pillowed carefully on Reyes' shoulder and arm around him, he felt more secure now than he had when they had first stumbled into this place. His touches continued but slowed as his body was insisting that he should sleep if he wasn't going to eat.
And sometimes just assuring each other of the bond was enough to make all the outside stresses easier to take and roll with. "As long as I have you, we'll make it."
Antonio had made it extremely clear he had friends in high places, along with so many other implications that had set Gabriel to worry about the safety of not only their own people, but Jack as well. They already knew he had suit and money power, but the threat of blow-back had made so many fears that much more real, and taking him in would have done nothing. Egos and red-tape had been a new battle, and all the more reason he didn't play by the rules with Blackwatch.
They had already been fighting an uphill battle, so many turned against them out of some idea that they would overthrow power. Someone had to have been whispering in their ears with the sort of ties a dead man implied Talon had. Now they were just knocked to the bottom of the hill.
Gabriel snorted a bit, "Isn't the only that that should matter that I find you unbelievably attractive still?" A little tease at that, because really Jack. "No one else you have to look good for but me, and I've been enjoying it," while also worried about stress turning him gray early but beside the point at the moment. "You know I'm right there with you when it comes to pineapple on pizza, and I'll also have you know I got him to actually try it and he nearly ate half a damn pizza." Been a sight.
This was comfortable, no matter their aches and pains, and that arm was securely around Jack and just... taking all of this in. Letting himself relax there and at least for a little while hope that things would really be okay, no matter what they were going to be up against once they left this motel room. Could finish off that energy bar later.
Lips brushed carefully against Jack's hairline, "Then we're going to make it for a long damn time."
They had made it work for a long time, Jack running the political and social interference while Gabe worked the messier and more difficult scene of information gathering and underhanded dealings. He used his outright status and appearances to shield Reyes, and he knew that his soul bond protected his back from the shadows. It was a give and take that had worked for so long... and now it was all gone. They didn't have the same platform to operate anymore.
His appearance shouldn't matter, but it had been a sort of point of pride the last few years. His appearance also made him very recognizable, which was something they were going to do away with. He hadn't even looked in a mirror to see his face, wasn't up to it just yet. "I could point out that you're obligated to feel attracted to me; it's in your soul to do so." He tried to smile, but it only made it to the corner of his lips. Still better effort than no effort. "So I don't have to look good for myself? Gosh, if only I'd known all these years." Now he was being a dramatic jerk because he could. Reyes was rubbing off on him. "I knew he would like it, but he made such a fuss, I nearly ordered you to keep him off a mission in revenge."
He knew that they should probably dose up on antibiotics and pain medication again, but that involved moving. He was as comfortable as he could be right here, the warmth of Gabe soaking into him, the steady pulse of life against his forehead where it rested on Reyes' neck, and damaged and undamaged skin settled on his own.
He made a noise of agreement. "We'll figure out who did this," he murmured softly, his voice trailing off as he slipped off to doze again. Only Gabe could make him comfortable and safe to sleep so easily.
Been a little more difficult when he'd been benched, but it hadn't stopped him from trying, many arguments as it had caused. Gabriel just couldn't sit still or stand by while there was a crisis and things were freezing them out of doing anything. Something that hadn't been a problem before egos had started fearing what reaching out or allowing Overwatch to help could mean for their looks in the world of power.
There'd already been a choke-hold on that platform where nothing could be done, and so even with having nothing but a few things tucked away out of paranoia to their names... well. This was a little more freeing, even if for now they were at a sore disadvantage.
Looking in a mirror needed to wait, let Jack have a little more time, but Gabriel doubted he'd be able to look for long at the mess made. Even if it made no difference to him, could still see that handsome face past and for it, could look completely different to who it belonged to. "So my opinion is heavily biased?" Better than nothing. "You've got me to look good for you instead, so I'd think that makes you the winner." It was all in good fun, honestly. There was a twitch at the corner of his mouth, "Sounds like I should have gone through with making a statement about it to you personally," equal parts 'we told you so' and Jack getting to hear it personally.
But hadn't due to the fact it might've been just a little too humiliating for the kid, and he hadn't been stepping out of line to the point to have earned that sort of 'punishment' around the time of that event.
They should be moving, they should be trying to get new clothing, find some transport, a many number of things, but even Gabriel didn't want to move. Wanted to take the time and let themselves heal and reorient. Get as much of that under their belts as possible.
"We will," A light brush of lips against skin once more, doing what he could to stay away from injury, "We will." No doubt in his mind, relaxing a little bit more to perhaps try and get a little more rest himself, needing another dose of meds or not.
Honestly, Gabe would find a way to see some kind of beauty in him even if he was completely scarred up, or lost all his limbs or had no ability to communicate. That was probably part of the package deal of being bonded, since there was no escape from one another even if they wanted to. So yes, Reyes was totally bias. "Well, as long as you'll be beautiful for the both of us. Apparently you're going to hard carry that title now."
He sighed and settled in easily, and it took no time at all with no disturbances to actually fall asleep again nestled on Gabe's shoulder. His arm went slack, sliding down to rest across Reyes' hip and his breathing evened out as he drifted off safe and relatively warm again.
Eventually, the position allowed his jaw to drop slightly, and there was no shame in drooling on Gabe. He didn't even shift, his body just going leaden where he lay against Gabe's warm one. They spent the next few hours like that, and while both normally very light sleepers for any situation, the strain of wounding and emotional trauma left them cuddled together.
Jack opened his eyes and snorted when Reyes suddenly shifted next to him, and he jerked back as if thinking they were in danger. No, it was just Reyes in desperate need of relief to have a leak, and the older man couldn't do that with Jack leaning all over him drooling. So much for just using a cup, but at the same time, he sleepily recognized that Reyes would be best getting up and stretching those aching muscles, get a move on with that oxygen tank.
For his part, he hissed in pain and rolled away, flopping down on the mattress to lay on half on his side and half on his stomach. His back was a patchwork of deep healing bruises and scabbing cuts where they wasn't sutures holding him together thanks to Gabe's hand. He lay cheek down no matter how much it felt hot and uncomfortable to do so.
Despite the lack of blankets because he had kicked them off of him in the roll, he was shivering but his skin was flushed and clammy.
Much as he hated to disturb the other, nature called and needs must, and he did mutter some form of apology before he was in the bathroom. Didn't keep the oxygen mask on, because like hell he could balance dealing with the oxygen tank on top of it all, and he felt like he was breathing a bit better without it- have to check if there was a third one once out of the bathroom anyway, just in case.
The bed sank back down near Jack, a hand rested just against the side of his head once Gabriel returned and didn't feel much better after. Just didn't feel like he was going to piss himself, but what mattered ten was-
"C'mon, we both need to take another round of antibiotics, got a couple cups of water," and he'd make the man eat the rest of that energy bar if he had to hand feed him again. Could feel the fever in his skin. Didn't doubt his would have felt the same with how his head felt.
Goddamn.
"Got to take a little more care of ourselves before we can rest again."
He honestly didn't like that Gabe was in another room, but he wasn't about to follow. He was more aware of their link with distance, was making certain that the older man wasn't about to collapse on the way to the washroom or the way back, but otherwise, he was just laying trying to find the most comfortable spot in the bed while at the same time, not moving at all.
He made a soft grunting noise, thinking he could probably drink more water, but that involved moving right now. He'd just moved. "Mmmm, later. I'm trying to get comfortable again," he mumbled into the mattress. Did it smell? It probably had an odor, but he wasn't going to struggle to place it. He likely didn't want to know.
"You should drink more water. You didn't have a lot before we napped," he managed to sigh out. They had both suffered significant blood loss after all, so they were going to have to replenish. "Take more pain drugs too. You're probably sore..." Nagging Gabe was something he could do in his sleep.
"Then you moving again won't be a loss since you haven't gotten comfortable again," not moving his hand from where it rested other than to let the back of it press lightly against Jack's forehead. Could feel the fever in is skin already, was a little pointless, but habits- "Won't you sit up for me, Jack? Please?" He was one hundred percent willing to play dirty if he had to.
Especially if it meant getting Jack moving to the point Gabriel could help him take care of himself, or damn well take care for him.
Of course he didn't want to be moving himself, had a good idea of how the other felt. "I will if you do the same, not before." Yeah, Gabriel was already moving in to playing it that way so long as it meant they were both doing what they needed for themselves, apparently. "I'm sore and I feel like I've got a fever, but so do you."
Apparently he was too tired to not just go right for the underhanded tricks.
"Mmmmm'sorta comfortable," he managed to say, even if Gabriel's logic was relatively sound comparatively. He still wasn't moving just yet, not until there was plea coming from the older man and then he lifted his head from where it rested on the sheets, blurrily looking at Gabe and assessing the distance between them. Sitting up was so much harder than laying down.
Slowly, he dug his elbows into the mattress and struggled his way to sitting position again, but thankfully he had a cast iron stomach and the vertigo only made him a little cross-eyed for a few seconds before he corrected.
He reached out and set his hand to the back of Gabe's forehead, but to him, it felt like they were about the same temperature. Boiled lobster temperature, but he was up and deciding that fussing was better for them both. That meant he was fussing with the blankets and checking on the oxygen mask that Gabe was using to help healing and breathing.
"You're breathing okay? Should I get the last tank?"
Them both being up, even if just haphazardly sitting up on the bed was about the extent of what they could do was it. It was enough, some little win there on getting the other to move; a little relieved that he had in the first place maybe felt for a brief moment through their link. Couldn't help but worry.
Despite how hot he felt? Gabriel was pale as he could be, and he didn't know if he could handle more than drinking enough water to get down the pills. His stomach had been doing flops since he'd gotten up in such a hurry and hadn't settled. Had actually spent a little longer in the bathroom out of some fear his stomach was going to empty itself of what little was in there in the first place.
Still, his head tilted a little against Jack's hand, eyes closed for a moment- "Think there's still enough left in tank two- just gotta get the mask back on after taking a handful of pills." Not before, that was stupid since the mask covered his mouth. "Breathing better.
"How're you feeling, other than tired still?" Already offering one of those cups of water out to him.
It was a chore being up when it shouldn't be, since he had just been up not that long ago, even if it had been leaning in on Gabe and sleeping. Now he was up under his own power, and that felt like a battle in and of itself, especially since he apparently had to stay upright. It forced him to lean against the headboard after a little swaying, and he was groaning to himself about how much he was sore.
"You look pale," he managed to remark because it looked like Gabe might puke in a moment's notice. He suspected that was getting up and moving around when they honestly barely had the energy to exist. He looked beyond Gabe for the pills that they had stolen out of the ambulance, considering how to get them from there to into Gabe's mouth. Was he actually going to have to lean over and get them? Probably.
So he did, making terrible progress until he was literally flopped over Reyes' hip and fingers fumbling with the bottles to bring them closer. He barely managed to right himself, refusing the cup of water until he had dished out three tablets of each type and then took the cup to replace it with pills. "Take those. You probably can't feel any worse with them on board."
"I'm cold," he admitted. His skin was clammy and pale, a shiver running through him as he sat there trying to convince himself to take a sip of water. "It hurts to move too. Figure you're the same."
"So do you, it's probably blood loss and things not quite being up to normal." That and the fever, and everything else. They were both a pile of a mess in the shape of men, but that wouldn't last forever, just until they could sort their shit— "Careful."
To the Jack flopped across his lap, blinking a bit and taking a moment as if to try and figured out how he got from leaning against the headboard to there. Taking the pills in a suddenly freed hand before taking in a deep breath. Almost as if he had to brace himself to even think of putting something in his mouth and swallowing, "I will once you're ready to take your own dose." Stubborn as he could gather up the strength to be.
He was trying to be stubborn just to get it all over with. How was that one supposed to work?
"Can get under the blankets again, need to both eat something. Not eating is making this all worse- and yeah." He was the same.
"Not like we can offer each other a transfusion." That was his attempt at a lame joke, and it was definitely lame even to his ears. God, he was tired and sore and everything else. This wouldn't be the first or the last time he'd end up in Gabe's lap.
He grumbled and fought to pull out the correct number of pills, already seeing the writing on the wall that Reyes was going to refuse to take his without him also doing the same. It was such a pain, but he swallowed his pills like a goddamn leader. One-by-one with sips of water between, but he did so without complaining about it even if it seemed like so much effort. They were both sporting infections and fevers and it was only going to get worse if they didn't take care of it now. He was not carrying Reyes out of here come tomorrow. "Stop holding out and take your antibiotics, god."
He sipped at the rest of his water, letting the coolness of it soothe his burning throat even if the rest of him felt like he couldn't get warm enough. It was all confusing, and he was surprised he could even stay sitting up.
The thought of food made him shake his head. He wasn't hungry. Those bites of protein bar from before weren't even worth it in his mind. He was fine and he didn't think he needed more right now. Even if logically antibiotics should be taken with food. He just wanted to sleep. And finish his water.
"I'm not hungry. I just want to sleep." Or maybe they should watch the news. Was he even ready for that?
"... Did..." Give him a minute as he squinted at the bag of medical supplies- "Did I grab any blood bags or something out of the ambulance? Would there have been any in there.. to grab...?" Shouldn't have been that difficult to remember, but it was. L the joke was it at least sparked that bit of thought.
That and didn't leave a thought for him to call out on how lame it was.
Still, he was only satisfied once Jack had taken his doses before Gabriel just got it over with and swallowed the palmful of pills down in one go with half the cup of water to make sure they all went down. Looking nauseated for just a moment before he was sinking a bit in to a slouch. Okay yeah that... was as bad as he'd thought it be, "Better?" Yes.
He did growl just a bit, however.
"I will fucking sit on you and make you eat a whole bar if you don't stop that." He meant it to sound like a threat, he really did.
He looked at Reyes, feeling a moment of exasperation because he was certain neither of them was going to find a vein on the other for a transfusion. His hands were shaking to much, and he wasn't exactly skilled in that. "Oh and if you find a bag, how much are you going to have to poke me to find a vein? You a nurse now too?" Be sensible, Reyes.
He didn't even manage a glare when Gabe waited for him to finish his pills before making the attempt. He made a noise in the back of his throat when the older man looked to be about to be sick. "Puke over the side of the bed if you have to," he warned, worry creeping in his voice. "Then you have to take more antibiotics if you lose them!"
Wow, someone was being testy and dramatic about food.
He finished his cup of water and set it on the bedside table next to him and then flopped back down in the bed. That was a mistake, plain and simple, as noted by his small, "ow," which sounded off from the brash action. He still had his back to Gabe, trying a little harder this time to find a comfortable position in bed and failing. "Ugh... cuddle me, don't feed me."
"It'd come in handy if either of us got our shit pulled together enough," hissed almost, but not out of anger. Far from it. "Can't say I'm wrong- and if we do if all else fails we can dump some over our own blood stains here," so that they... covered their DNA? He was not up to coming up with the plans like that right now, even if such a thing could work let alone would be needed.
Would have been so much worse if he'd tried doing it one at a time. All tat many more changes for triggering something, all in one go at least meant he only had to do it once, right. "Don't think we've got enough to waste like that," and he didn't feel like checking. Worry about getting more if they needed them without that factored in, thanks.
Also yes he was going to be testy and dramatic about food. They needed to eat if they wanted to heal properly. Feed a fever, starve a cold- something like that?
Gabriel used a hand to brace himself as best he could when he leaned over, cup of water sat aside as he rested a hand against Jack's back lightly. "We both need to eat something Jack- and again you know I'm going to refuse if you don't." Because that was just how it was. "Don't see why I couldn't do both." Cuddle feed?
"Which we won't be in the state we're in. We can't even make it to the bathroom and back without feeling like it was a twenty mile run," he pointed out. It was about as reasonable as he would manage at this point. It would come in handy to have blood, but they hadn't put it in the non-existent fridge of this place so it was useless but to spray all over the place. "Just burn this place down when we're done."
No, they were going to need all the antibiotics that they could get at this point. A fallen building and all the open wounds that they had had definitely meant that they had a brewing infection all over their bodies. "Do you... have any safe, safe houses around here? All I know of are the Overwatch ones and they'll be compromised."
He didn't want to eat; he wanted to sleep and maybe to be cuddled, but with Gabe being testy, he could just take sleep. He had given in when it came to taking the medication, but he was going to be stubborn about eating anything. He wasn't in the mood for yet another low-blow tactic like pulling at their link and using the 'please' word.
He appreciated the hand on his back, and he grumbled and shifted on the bed at the idea that Reyes was going to hold out if he did. He grabbed the blanket and pulled it up in front of him as if he were cuddling that instead. "Then eat something. I'm cold and tired." He hugged the bedding to his chest as if making a childish point of his own. "I'll cuddle this if you aren't going to."
"That would attract too much attention, and we already did it with the ambulance. We've filled our arson quota when it comes to an escape," Why did it sound like he was talking about an actual thing? It really sounded like he was talking about arson quotas like they were an actual thing.
Gabriel had to think for a moment before answering- "Yeah, I do. It's a ways out of town, more in the wilderness than anything. Got a few in various places all over." The Blackwatch safe houses shouldn't be as compromised, at least not the ones he was thinking of. Just as off the books as his offshore accounts just in case some emergency ever came to be where it was needed. "Be.. be more supplies there. Re-stock every time I'm in the area and got the chance," so things would be fresh. Good?
Could work off it at least.
"I'm not going to eat anything until you do," and was going to stick to that tactic of things, leaning back and withdrawing his hand as he pulled up the bedding to cover Jack more. "I'll just go lay in the tub then."
"Arson quota?" He wasn't awake enough or in the right mind enough to do more than question that idea. He had no idea one even existed, but it actually sounded fake in his mind, not that he was big on arson to begin with. He knew it had its place, but it generally wasn't part of his world unless it was used as a means to distract for an evac.
It seemed like in order to escape Switzerland, they would have to have somewhere to hole up. There was no way that they would make it back to the United States in their current condition, fast healing or no. They needed a solid week to just lay about, tend to each other, salve their wounded spirits and then make the jump. If someone was after them to finish them off, they would be watching all borders too. They needed to let the heat die down a bit in his mind.
"One of those should be our next stop. Lay low for a week or so," he murmured softly. Recover, maybe eat something when Reyes wasn't going to lord it over him like it was something he had to do to save them both from punishing each other.
He shoved the bedding away too cold but also too hot for it. He was uncomfortable and hoping the pain medication would kick in soon, but until then, he was going to shiver and clutch the blanket to his chest. "Don't get tetanus in there," he grumped, not giving into these terrorist demands. "And eat something if you're not going to puke it up."
He huddled closer to the edge of the bed, closing his eyes and trying to find a place to find more sleep. He was avoiding thinking about turning on the television too.
"Only allowed to set fire to and burn down one thing per escape," and they'd spent theirs on the ambulance. "Arson quota. Can't do more than that."
Would have to lay as low as possible and try not to attract anymore attention when they did finally move again. Didn't want to spend another day here after this if they could manage, save some cash until they could chance getting to a bank or something, running on as little as they were.
"Mmm, that'll work," in giving them the time they needed to heal and get over anything else they needed to deal with. Have time to sit still without worrying about being found or- anything.
"Fine."
Apparently that was that as- yeah, Gabriel was pushing himself out and off the bed, leaving that cup of water he'd brought in for himself where he put it and was going to work his way back towards the bathroom. Stubbornly sticking to his guns, because he honestly doubted he'd be able to eat anything. So, if Jack wasn't going to eat he wasn't going to bother the attempt when even he wasn't sure it'd stay down.
He grunted from where he was laying at this whole arson quota business, but he couldn't seriously contest it either. "Sounds fake," was all he remarked about it. Because it did, but neither did he have the energy or the brain power to argue right about now.
At least they had a plan, even if it was a risk moving anywhere with all the shit going down where the Swiss base had once been. It wasn't an illusion of the mind that he had heard helicopters moving back and forth into the city, and he had no doubt that emergency response was in full force. That would make leaving a bit more dicey, but he figured they had made it out of worse situations. It's just that this time they both looked like they had been torn apart and that might be suspicious. They'd deal with it later, he decided.
Jack was aware of the bed shifting as Gabe rose and listened to the sound of progress for the bathroom. There was no sudden cursing or 'thud', so he assumed the older man had made it, not that he would actually be able to assist much. He hugged the blankets to him and lay quiet and shivering on the bed while he tried to listen for signs that Reyes was successful in having a soak in the tub. He figured it would be mostly good for the man, though nothing was ideal when it came to getting sutures wet.
He was bloody, dirty and gross himself, but there was no way he was attempting a soak. He'd probably accidentally drown at this rate.
A low noise, "Not fake, a good rule to go by. Only allowed to set fire to one thing if anything at all." Unless it was a series of explosions but then that was an entirely different situational quota.
Any nearby towns and cities would likely be a mess, any area that had a decent hospital, everything. Probably swarmed with the news and media people soon enough, like vultures descending on something before everything cleared and things were still actively going on. Whatever they had to do to get the freshest hunk of something juicy they could spread for views.
There was going to be no soaking, Gabriel was literally going to lay down in an empty tub. Most he did was rip down the shower curtain and lay the least grimy side up before situating himself inside of it. Stupid and possibly childish? Yes, very much so, but he never said he was going to attempt any sort of cleanliness.
Just that he was going to go lay in the tub if Jack wasn't going to eat and keep up like that.

"I love you, more than anything."
no subject
"More than anything," he agreed.
no subject
Head rested carefully against Jack's, wanting to keep them both there for the moment, "So much more."
no subject
"As long as I have you, we'll make it."
no subject
Lips brushed carefully against Jack's hairline, "Then we're going to make it for a long damn time."
no subject
Only Gabe could make him comfortable and safe to sleep so easily.
no subject
"We will," A light brush of lips against skin once more, doing what he could to stay away from injury, "We will." No doubt in his mind, relaxing a little bit more to perhaps try and get a little more rest himself, needing another dose of meds or not.
no subject
Despite the lack of blankets because he had kicked them off of him in the roll, he was shivering but his skin was flushed and clammy.
no subject
The bed sank back down near Jack, a hand rested just against the side of his head once Gabriel returned and didn't feel much better after. Just didn't feel like he was going to piss himself, but what mattered ten was-
"C'mon, we both need to take another round of antibiotics, got a couple cups of water," and he'd make the man eat the rest of that energy bar if he had to hand feed him again. Could feel the fever in his skin. Didn't doubt his would have felt the same with how his head felt.
Goddamn.
"Got to take a little more care of ourselves before we can rest again."
no subject
He made a soft grunting noise, thinking he could probably drink more water, but that involved moving right now. He'd just moved. "Mmmm, later. I'm trying to get comfortable again," he mumbled into the mattress. Did it smell? It probably had an odor, but he wasn't going to struggle to place it. He likely didn't want to know.
"You should drink more water. You didn't have a lot before we napped," he managed to sigh out. They had both suffered significant blood loss after all, so they were going to have to replenish. "Take more pain drugs too. You're probably sore..." Nagging Gabe was something he could do in his sleep.
no subject
Especially if it meant getting Jack moving to the point Gabriel could help him take care of himself, or damn well take care for him.
Of course he didn't want to be moving himself, had a good idea of how the other felt. "I will if you do the same, not before." Yeah, Gabriel was already moving in to playing it that way so long as it meant they were both doing what they needed for themselves, apparently. "I'm sore and I feel like I've got a fever, but so do you."
Apparently he was too tired to not just go right for the underhanded tricks.
no subject
Slowly, he dug his elbows into the mattress and struggled his way to sitting position again, but thankfully he had a cast iron stomach and the vertigo only made him a little cross-eyed for a few seconds before he corrected.
He reached out and set his hand to the back of Gabe's forehead, but to him, it felt like they were about the same temperature. Boiled lobster temperature, but he was up and deciding that fussing was better for them both. That meant he was fussing with the blankets and checking on the oxygen mask that Gabe was using to help healing and breathing.
"You're breathing okay? Should I get the last tank?"
no subject
"How're you feeling, other than tired still?" Already offering one of those cups of water out to him.
no subject
Figure you're the same."
no subject
To the Jack flopped across his lap, blinking a bit and taking a moment as if to try and figured out how he got from leaning against the headboard to there. Taking the pills in a suddenly freed hand before taking in a deep breath. Almost as if he had to brace himself to even think of putting something in his mouth and swallowing, "I will once you're ready to take your own dose." Stubborn as he could gather up the strength to be.
He was trying to be stubborn just to get it all over with. How was that one supposed to work?
"Can get under the blankets again, need to both eat something. Not eating is making this all worse- and yeah." He was the same.
no subject
Was he even ready for that?
no subject
That and didn't leave a thought for him to call out on how lame it was.
Still, he was only satisfied once Jack had taken his doses before Gabriel just got it over with and swallowed the palmful of pills down in one go with half the cup of water to make sure they all went down. Looking nauseated for just a moment before he was sinking a bit in to a slouch. Okay yeah that... was as bad as he'd thought it be, "Better?" Yes.
He did growl just a bit, however.
"I will fucking sit on you and make you eat a whole bar if you don't stop that." He meant it to sound like a threat, he really did.
no subject
"Ugh... cuddle me, don't feed me."
no subject
"Don't see why I couldn't do both." Cuddle feed?
no subject
"I'll cuddle this if you aren't going to."
no subject
Gabriel was going to go that far, really.
no subject
He was avoiding thinking about turning on the television too.
no subject
So, if Jack wasn't going to eat he wasn't going to bother the attempt when even he wasn't sure it'd stay down.
no subject
He'd probably accidentally drown at this rate.
no subject
