He help directed the hoverbike around trees and rocks, and when it was clear they were in Gabe's decided location, he eased off of the bike and headed off into the nearby woods to search up some rocks and and dried wood from tree wells that they could use. It gave Gabe time to gather up some snow that he would help to support into a good wall.
He might have pushed it a little, testing how his wrist was healing and to make less trips. The snow was starting to increase as the night deepened around them, but he was back and used the tarp to cover their wood for the time being.
"Let's get this snow enclosure on the go, shall we? How big we making it?"
"Big enough the two of us can fit inside of it," comfortably or not. Just so long as they could fit, have the fire, and be safe with that all at the same time.
There was a large bit of snow collected, along with a couple fallen logs that Gabriel had stumbled across in his snow venturing. They'd do well enough for something like those rocks would, even if it was just some extra masking for whatever could come by them.
At least the shelter, once they got it up, really would blend in to their surroundings with how the snow fall increased which made some of the worker easier and some- well, not so much. It was cold, but at least they could make it so it was going to be warm enough inside for the two of them.
Jack was right there helping and planning out the walling of their shelter, using his body more than his injured healing arm to smooth up the snow and around logs and some bigger rocks of the area as stabilizing agents for their growing shelter. The snow fall had increased and the temperature had also begun to drop.
He helped where he could and even set up their shelter within the walls. He set up where the fire could be set safely and headed out for dried needles to start it with. Any kindling he could find, he dragged back. They would need it for the overnight.
By the end of it Gabriel was helping Jack with dragging back kindling, and then pulling him inside of their shelter with it.Ducking the both of them in and using some bit of tarp to better seal them in to try and help insulate a bit. There was of course a hole in there for air and, well, better to let out smoke for what little fire they might start.
Even if it took a little force after Gabriel moved down to sit, back pressed against a wall, he pulled Jack down in to his lap. Tucked him there between legs, and all the better to pulled him back against is own chest. Better to share body heat, chin tucked against his shoulder carefully- "What do you think?" Voice tired, but soft and warm.
They did it, which felt like a miracle now that they were inside. When they started, he figured they would be sleeping in the snow, but their stubborn will was apparently still intact completely. He allowed himself to be pulled inside without complaint, closing up their shelter.
He sank back against Gabe's chest with a deep sigh, letting his head drop down to rest on Gabe's shoulder as he closed his eyes. He knew he should take off his shoes, to pull the blanket over them, but he took the moment to just sit there as he was reminded of all the healing aches and pains from both the building falling on them and their travels. He was exhausted, but he also knew he would have to keep watch tonight.
"It's well camouflaged and it will serve us well tonight. I suppose we should get a fire going and try to choke down some food, right?" Gabe was also good about managing their need for calories.
"Right." They could warm up slowly, safely, so long as they kept close, even within a shelter made out of snow it was warmer than nothing at all. Well insulated with how it was packed in and structured. Trap heat in with them, but wouldn't trap any smoke from burning anything with a fire; deep in as they were the forest would mask the smoke escaping, too.
Could do this.
"I can get the fire going if you feel like you can grab one of the MREs from the bag." Was close enough to them with it still being an enclosed space.
