"I can stretch here. Getting up just means I take a piss and stoke the embers of the fire," he reasoned softly, making a point of stretching his legs where they rested over Gabriel's thick coiled body that was tucked very close to them. Keeping all the warmth in under their blankets. He knew that rest would be best for Gabriel recovering from his injuries.
He tipped his chin towards his chest when he felt the tilt of Gabriel's head, taking in the gorgon's scrutiny. Of course, his hold never changed and his hands never stopped stroking across Gabriel's shoulders. "Go back to sleep if you're tired. Though, that might result in your snake hair courting me again."
Gabriel hummed a bit in acknowledgement. If Jack wanted to get up he'd be fully able to, and he was comfortable and had stretched enough that he wouldn't be too terribly sore-
His head lifted up more, brow furrowed a bit in some groggy squint. "What do you mean my snake hair was c-" those snakes of his moved and stretched so they moved in a curl around the back of Jack's head, bringing Gabriel's forward and having lips sort of press together. Taking advantage of the gorgon being so groggy.
Didn't pull away, he just made a soft noise at the fact, even if he went still.
Well, that's exactly what he meant, exactly as it sounded. For some reason, it seemed that petting and kissing the snakes had made them very bold and demanding that they do something about their squirrelly inability to make a deep commitment. He made a surprised noise when Gabriel's face was pulled in against his own.
Their lips met, and his hands lifted from Gabriel's shoulders to cup the gorgon's cheeks to hold him close. It was the first real kiss that he had given in a very long time, and it was probably very rusty and inexperienced at this point. It didn't matter because he had decided that the snakes were a good translation of what Gabriel wouldn't say.
Both of them would beat around the bush for far too long and never get anywhere, likely part again and miss a chance of what might or could be. They loosened up and retreated back to Gabriel's hair smugly and snugly as Gabriel made another noise when Jack did actually start to kiss him, rather than them simply being held together like that.
Hard not to let himself relax as those hands cupped either side of his face, widened eyes relaxing, even closing with a flutter of eyelids and finally tilted his head to turn his end of it in to a real kiss. More weight behind it rather than forced surprise. Leaning rather than fallen in to it.
Jack definitely would, thinking he didn't deserve anything other than the loneliness that plagued his life. He would go day-to-day listening and being aware of other humans and creatures coming together for happiness. They would laugh, yell, cry, and call greetings to each other, and he would be on the edge of it all. He had found something special in his blossoming relationship with Gabriel, but at the same time, he was usually in such a rut that friendship might have been the best that he could hope for.
So the fact that they were kissing each other and feeling how Gabriel's lips responded to his own offered a sort of hope that he wasn't certain he deserved. At this point though, he was going to take it, going to indulge as his fingers dug into the gorgon's cheeks and then one slid back to carefully cup the back of Gabriel's head.
He let the kiss last for a full minute just to have a good taste of it, to reimaging old skills that he hadn't used in many, many years. Slowly he broke the kiss, a deep sigh leaving from his nose. He was back to resting their foreheads together.
Apparently the snakes of the gorgon's hair thought that Jack very much deserved Gabriel, more so if they tried so hard to get that blatantly across. Reasons behind their own affections because it was already there in who they were connected with. Knowing that Gabriel wouldn't push, would have taken the bringing up as it earlier as a call to... back off. That it wasn't wanted.
Just a friendship he very much wanted to keep, even if that was all wanted of it. Worry of how attached he'd already allowed himself to get, even while believing things happened for a reason.
Kept his forehead rested against Jack's, tongue brushing along his own lower lip briefly with a slight flick. "... Courting, huh."
They were clearly connected and the snakes were rather bold when Gabriel was asleep, more so the longer that they began to show affection towards each other. He also found that the snakes were rather involved when he offered them the same level of affection, not at all bothered by their presence. If anything, he found it much easier to sleep knowing that they were there keeping watch on everything.
Jack was terrified of getting attached more than he already was. Gabriel had lost his family and Jack had lost his. They didn't have anything other than their lives to lose these days, but if they committed to this, they would have something both worth fighting for but also a risk of losing.
His fingers massaged the back of Gabriel's neck. "Your compatriots weren't satisfied with only a friendship. They say they want more. Never been kissed by snakes before..." he trailed off and sighed. That's exactly what had happened.
"Seems like it isn't for them either, judging by that last little stunt of theirs." Which the two of them had... well, they hadn't immediately stopped kissing. The tip of his tail curled around one of Jack's ankles slowly, letting his eyes remain closed, could practically feel how smug those snakes were with how they nestled there in his hair.
Of course they'd get up to something while they slept. "... do you want to... do that again?" the kissing.
"They like to be petted," he murmured, glancing up at the snakes that seemed to be doing that hissing chuckle thing again. He sighed again, licking his lips and then chewing on the lower one. Suddenly he was worried he had stepped out of bounds, not certain what it was that Gabriel might want and didn't want to push the gorgon. "They let you sleep but then... started maneuvering when I was talking to them."
He stroked his palm against Gabriel's cheek. "Yes, but only if you want to. This is... a bit sudden." They had only had their friendship talk late last night after all. Everything seemed to simmer in the night.
There was a soft, slightly amused huff, "Snake charmer." All he could think, but it also sounded like he had an idea of just what the snakes had gotten up to while he slept. His head tilted a bit, letting fingertips rub idle circles just against Jack's chest. "Think they wanted to... make what I would be willing- what I wouldn't say I wanted," for a few reasons.
His head tipped into that palm, letting his eyes close again. "It is sudden, but you seem to want it too or you wouldn't have kissed me like that." Or so that Gabriel hoped. "We can go... slow? But we can still kiss."
He flushed lightly on his cheeks at the nickname, even if he hadn't intended to charm those snakes atop Gabriel's head. They just seemed neglected of attention and that wouldn't do, especially with Gabriel himself sleeping soundly. "They... um, were pretty determined." And they had apparently done well, since here they were escaping being friends only.
He thought that proposing they try to get physically closer last night would have been too fast, would have scared the gorgon away. They had so much to lose but also so many miles to cover. Gabriel had made it seem like time was necessary.
"I do... I just don't want to rush you," he murmured softly. "We've been alone so long that I don't want you think I'm desperate. It's just... no one else had ever called me handsome or wanted to be around me like you do." It was a rare opportunity, and he ached with a need to escape this isolation. "Slow is fine." He leaned in for a quick peck on the lips to prove he was willing to kiss. "I haven't kissed anyone since I was much younger than I am now." Rusty and inexperienced.
Hands lifted as he cupped Jack's face, foreheads still pressed together, Gabriel brushing his nose against the side of the hunter's. "They can be, more so if they have even a little feeling something may be good for me." Meaning that Jack could be good for him, and that he was definitely wanted.
"I've been afraid of rushing you, honestly." Letting fingers curl back in to short cropped hair, fingertips rubbing along Jack's scalp slowly. "More so when my anatomy at the moment is very obviously different from yours- reasons I suggested... time and slowness at all."
He was afraid it would be too much and just... Jack would turn him away, it was there in his tone. Did soften a bit when he leaned in to turn that quick peck in to something a little more lingering. More showing he didn't care how rusty the man was at kissing, apparently.
Jack was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that Gabriel and his snake hair thought that he was a good thing. He excelled in the Guild, yes, but that felt like that was all he was good for. This kind of human-like connection was something he craved in that sort of off-hand way. "I liked it. I like them, even if I know they are a part of you. They are sweet to deal with."
He was at all off-put by Gabriel's form, never had been. His head tipped into those fingers, and he reminded him of how those snakes had traveled there, nestling in his golden locks. "Your anatomy doesn't bother me. You with two legs and you with a tail is still you, and I've always been attracted to whatever you are." That was the true. Jack couldn't exactly see, so differences didn't bother him as much as it might others.
His eyes closed as their kiss lingered, and his hand returned to cupping Gabriel's cheek, finger tips stroking. He nudged their lips together, experimenting because he hadn't had an opportunity.
"Fortunate they took to you- they are capable of taking off fingers." A low hum, even if he was stating a fact. "Rather you keep all of your fingers, too." And that was so very teasing.
Gabriel enjoyed combing his fingers through Jack's hair, doing so slowly in order to easily support that tilt of his head. "Might think different if you ever want to go- well." Wasn't quite sure how to word it, and hell if he knew if any hunting guild went that deep in to anatomy of a creature nearly wiped out. "Easier to accept that when I say you're handsome, I mean it completely?" Murmured almost.
Let the hunter experiment, Gabriel letting his own lips part a bit as if seeing just what Jack might do once he noticed that.
"Good for me that they like nuzzling them," he remarked. They could be aggressive about it too, growing far more bold with him. "I'm a bit more effective at my job with all my fingers. Lost my sight, may as well keep my digits." If he could get snake kisses, he expected his fingers were safe.
His own hand shifted to card through Gabriel's longer hair, tangling his fingers in the dark locks. He raised his eyebrows and put two-and-two together, and yeah, his cheeks flushed with a dusting of pink. He cleared his throat a little. "I don't... have a lot of experience with that. I mean... we don't have to if you don't want to." Just keep it to petting and kissing for awhile. He assumed gorgons had all the usual anatomy somewhere in this form and more obvious in the other. "Yeah... like I said, no one but you has ever told me that."
He did experiment, keeping it slow so he could try to remember how to do this. It had been a good long while. Still, he broke the kiss to rest their foreheads together again.
All of Jack's fingers were incredibly safe- "Think they've decided you'd do far better to keep all of them, yeah."
He couldn't help but eye that flush, corner of his mouth twitching a bit as Gabriel pressed a bit closer against the hunter. "I'd have to show you what to do if you... were interested, Jack." Had all the usual anatomy, just not quite the same, and that was a hand stroking along one of Jack's arms slowly, even if there was a touch of nervousness to it all. "I do want to, with you, if you were willing to deal with my- with this form of mine." Very willing, even if approaching it lightly.
The kiss was kept sweet almost, letting his tongue flick out briefly against Jack's lips after it was broken, forehead pressed against his. Gabriel's fingers curled loosely around one of the hunter's wrists.
"I think they like my touching them more than they would appreciate taking my fingers off," he agreed. He was curious if the snakes would get involved if they did become intimate. That would be... unexpected and interesting.
He did feel warm, but he wouldn't know that he was actually flushed. He did feel the intensity of Gabriel's gaze, and he curled his arm tighter around the gorgon to keep holding him close. No need to get off of his chest as they both seemed rather comfortable. "Do you think... we should wait for your injuries or...?" They were deep and he wasn't quite certain how rigorous any kind of such activities were with a gorgon. "Like I said, this form doesn't bother me. It feels nice, but I also like you with legs too." He pressed his arm to that touch, pressing their chests together harder.
His lips parted as he felt that tongue against them. He turned his wrist in Gabriel's hold, not to break it but to feel the press of those fingers. Completely trusting.
He hummed lowly, because Jack wasn't a damn bit wrong if they sought out his attention while Gabriel had been sleep. Not surprising since they were a bit of unfiltered him and... well.
"I think so long as I don't move overly much it should be fine," Bit his lower lip briefly as he knew a few ways to make that easy of himself, thumb rubbing along the inside of Jack's wrist slowly. "Could go check the things you need to and give me a bit of time to make myself comfortable, and when you came back we could get a bit more physical." Tip of his tail curling just a bit tighter -briefly- around Jack's ankle as he spoke. "Sometime after I'm healed enough and safe we can enjoy that option, too." He was serious.
Gabriel pressed another light kiss- "So.. what do you think? You want to...?"
It was amusing to him that they had managed to stumble their way from pledging to fight for friendship to sharing a kiss that forced them to admit that their wants and feelings went deeper than that. Now they were considering opening a sexual relationship, something Jack thought he couldn't well obtain with anyone unless he paid for it.
He chewed on his lower lip, aware this was a big step for them both. He had been given the impression through a few texts and Gabriel himself that this wasn't just a stress relief experiment either. If there were feelings and then sex, Gabriel likely would mate him for life and that story about the gorgon's parents had a chance of becoming reality for them.
"Are you certain you want to do this with me? Will doing this push us into being mated for life in your eyes?" He wanted Gabriel to consider this seriously. Jack was a hunter, and his very existence could put his gorgon mate in danger. At the same time, he knew they had time to figure it out. Hunters did have wives and husbands after all and some even traveled with them on certain jobs.
He didn't extract himself from the warm coils underneath those blankets, his foot twitching with the feel of that tail curling there. "I do... I mean, I really do." He really, really did. Part of him wanted consequences to be damned, but Jack was also logical too. "I want us on the same page on what we want and need from this."
Gabriel was very sure that he was thinking things through, considering what could and could happen, and hands moved so that they held Jack's face. Taking the time to consider the questions, why they were being asked at all-
"I am certain that I want to do this with you," and that was one that Gabriel could answer with confidence. No one else he trusted anywhere near as much, and it was one that needed a great deal of trust to allow anywhere near that close. "It won't, no. Takes a little more than that to be mated for life, but I understand your worries. We will have time to figure out if that is what we both want." To be mated for life or not, to weigh their options and wants if they wanted to remain together in any shape or form.
Nudged his nose against Jack's, foreheads pressed together. "I care deeply for you, and I want you," here and now. "Are we on the same page?"
It was just a lot of risks, but he was also considering if they could make it work. He thought maybe a hide-in-plain-sight idea could allow them both to exist in the sphere of each other and limit the risks too. After all, a blind severely scarred hunter finds a lover in another 'severely scarred blind' man could be a narrative worth running with. It wasn't as if he had to delve into any real backstory since it would be assumed.
He nodded his head against where it rested back against Gabriel's coil of thick body, and he felt a blossom of confidence grow little-by-little. The idea of not being alone anymore was actually startling. "So we can do this and still have the time to get to know one another on if something long-term could work," he clarified even if he knew he had heard right. Ears were one sense organ that definitely worked well. He didn't want them to jump into this and then regret it while being trapped together.
He stroked a hand down the back of Gabriel's neck and top of his shoulders. He swallowed hard, his mind going in many directions all at once. In the end, it was all very simple. He did want this. "Yeah, we're on the same page. Should I go and check snares and feed the fire and you can make yourself comfortable or... do we just not move from here and have a go of it?"
"Yeah, we can. Got a lot of land to cover, on top of what time we've got left in this cave. Plenty to get to know one another more and... talk." Get to know one another more, or just keep each other company. Whatever it was they were already doing before this moment, really. Could decide if it wasn't just a friendship they were willing to work together on and fight for in the long run of it.
Still arched a little in to that hand, humming softly. "You might want to go check snares and get some wood gathered. I'll tend to the fire and... get comfortable." Be prepared before going for it, be able to relax after or...well.
"We do kind of exist in isolation right now," he agreed, which made for good opportunities to get to know another on a deeper basis. He would admit the physical release would be nice as it had been awhile. Always relaxed him and made him easier to get along with, and it was going to be extremely refreshing to be cuddling and making out with someone he was attracted to. "I'd like to talk more. I want to get to know you."
He nodded his head and eased his way to the side so that Gabriel wasn't just laying on him anymore. "Alright, I'll get the chores done," he agreed before leaning in for a sweet and more confident kiss. "Eat and drink something too. You need to keep your strength up to heal." Which was most important.
Then he was stretching again and rolling up to sneak out from under the blankets. He stood, grabbed his boots and jacket and headed out to tend to their snares and bring up more firewood.
Provided plenty of time and chances to get to know each other and, well, now they wouldn't be dancing around mutual attraction and wondering if it was there at all. Corner of his mouth twitched a bit. "I'd like that, and to get to know you in turn." More than they had been, just little pieces here and there. Could probably tell Jack where exactly he'd been going... eventually. Sooner if he asked.
Fingers curled in Jack's hair as Gabriel returned that kiss with a soft sound, scooting aside himself so that Jack could get up easier. "I will, yeah. Can have something for you to eat when you get back, too." Had an idea of what he wanted to do, easing in to things and well. Plenty of time to ease in to things.
Just knew what might be easier on the both of them with him still healing. When Jack left Gabriel was already moving around, putting himself a snack together with the bit of leftover cooked meat still there while also wrapping up one for Jack to have in turn. Kept it by the fire as he fed wood in to it warm it up and keep it that way. Also boiled water, doubly making sure it was safe and waiting for it to cool before drinking any.
With that? Well, he did lay out the blankets after cleaning off some rock flooring that would do and...waited.
Out in the wilds again, Jack at least had some space to clear his head. He headed down to check his snares, having nabbed a rabbit and raccoon this time around. Even as he went about collecting their next meals, he had a spring in his step and a deeper awareness of the world around him. Breathing deeper, senses heightened, and he moved around with a new vigor to him.
He still made certain that there were no human or horse tracks too close to their little space and brought back the animals for Gabriel to have a go with. He made certain to drop another kiss on the gorgon before he was off to load firewood into the entrance way. Lots and lots of firewood so it wasn't something he had to worry about for at least two days.
Then he was coming back a touch breathless but happy, smiling as he felt the presence of the gorgon and moved to remove his cloak, his boots and his socks again. He dusted his hair out from wood and dirt and moved to settle near Gabriel. He immediately picked up the food left for him, munching it down.
"All's clear out there. No sign of that satyr I saw tracks for yesterday either." He made certain to remain close to Gabriel. "Made out okay?"

He had been given the impression through a few texts and Gabriel himself that this wasn't just a stress relief experiment either. If there were feelings and then sex, Gabriel likely would mate him for life and that story about the gorgon's parents had a chance of becoming reality for them.
"Are you certain you want to do this with me? Will doing this push us into being mated for life in your eyes?" He wanted Gabriel to consider this seriously. Jack was a hunter, and his very existence could put his gorgon mate in danger. At the same time, he knew they had time to figure it out. Hunters did have wives and husbands after all and some even traveled with them on certain jobs.
He didn't extract himself from the warm coils underneath those blankets, his foot twitching with the feel of that tail curling there. "I do... I mean, I really do." He really, really did. Part of him wanted consequences to be damned, but Jack was also logical too. "I want us on the same page on what we want and need from this."

No one else he trusted anywhere near as much, and it was one that needed a great deal of trust to allow anywhere near that close. "It won't, no. Takes a little more than that to be mated for life, but I understand your worries. We will have time to figure out if that is what we both want." To be mated for life or not, to weigh their options and wants if they wanted to remain together in any shape or form.
Nudged his nose against Jack's, foreheads pressed together. "I care deeply for you, and I want you," here and now. "Are we on the same page?"

Date: 2020-09-29 01:36 pm (UTC)He nodded his head against where it rested back against Gabriel's coil of thick body, and he felt a blossom of confidence grow little-by-little. The idea of not being alone anymore was actually startling. "So we can do this and still have the time to get to know one another on if something long-term could work," he clarified even if he knew he had heard right. Ears were one sense organ that definitely worked well. He didn't want them to jump into this and then regret it while being trapped together.
He stroked a hand down the back of Gabriel's neck and top of his shoulders. He swallowed hard, his mind going in many directions all at once. In the end, it was all very simple. He did want this. "Yeah, we're on the same page. Should I go and check snares and feed the fire and you can make yourself comfortable or... do we just not move from here and have a go of it?"

"Alright, I'll get the chores done," he agreed before leaning in for a sweet and more confident kiss. "Eat and drink something too. You need to keep your strength up to heal." Which was most important.
Then he was stretching again and rolling up to sneak out from under the blankets. He stood, grabbed his boots and jacket and headed out to tend to their snares and bring up more firewood.

Date: 2020-09-29 02:21 pm (UTC)Fingers curled in Jack's hair as Gabriel returned that kiss with a soft sound, scooting aside himself so that Jack could get up easier. "I will, yeah. Can have something for you to eat when you get back, too." Had an idea of what he wanted to do, easing in to things and well. Plenty of time to ease in to things.
Just knew what might be easier on the both of them with him still healing. When Jack left Gabriel was already moving around, putting himself a snack together with the bit of leftover cooked meat still there while also wrapping up one for Jack to have in turn. Kept it by the fire as he fed wood in to it warm it up and keep it that way. Also boiled water, doubly making sure it was safe and waiting for it to cool before drinking any.
With that? Well, he did lay out the blankets after cleaning off some rock flooring that would do and...waited.

Date: 2020-09-30 01:33 am (UTC)He still made certain that there were no human or horse tracks too close to their little space and brought back the animals for Gabriel to have a go with. He made certain to drop another kiss on the gorgon before he was off to load firewood into the entrance way. Lots and lots of firewood so it wasn't something he had to worry about for at least two days.
Then he was coming back a touch breathless but happy, smiling as he felt the presence of the gorgon and moved to remove his cloak, his boots and his socks again. He dusted his hair out from wood and dirt and moved to settle near Gabriel. He immediately picked up the food left for him, munching it down.
"All's clear out there. No sign of that satyr I saw tracks for yesterday either." He made certain to remain close to Gabriel. "Made out okay?"
