[ The masked vigilante description receives a small scoff, and his smile doesn't lessen at the ""subtle"" jab at his maturity. ]
Don't think I missed what you just said. [ It's accusatory, but jovially so, even with the slight narrow of his gaze on Soldier, the sharp dismissing throw of his chin. But it's a brief thing, and the air about him is pleasant and salty--a faint tang of the sea. He's grown up with silent, stoic men (or one, really), so it's a positive to actually have such a response.
Nevertheless, Tidus lets his arms unfurl, shaking them out. ]
Okay, okay, good to know you've got a sense of humour still. [ He'll leave the in your age implied. ] You ready to remember what it's like to be young?
Don't think I care that you didn't miss it. I said it, so it's meant to be heard. [Look, he was used to years of being in command and when he spoke, people generally listened to what he had to say. Now he just plain didn't care what people thought of him or what he had to say, and it wasn't that often he decided to talk much anyway.
So yeah, the kid was young, and yeah, he was old. It was a fact that neither of them could escape from these days. At least they decided to work together. Maybe they would learn something working off of each other.
He grunted at the idea he had a sense of humour.] I'm old, not brain-dead. I remember just fine what it was like to be young. I can outpace all the guys half my age anyway. [But he was curious of this speed up technique.]
[ Alright, sometimes he passes for a guy with a sense of humour, because he sure knows how to become Mr. No Fun to cover it up. Tidus would like to ask what exactly being young was like for him (no different to the present day?), but that can wait for why they're here, bringing up his left hand as if in wait. ]
[He tilted his head to the idea of the inquiry of magic, having had considered it for a long while since they had originally spoken to each other. There would definitely be no denial of any kind of edge in combat.]
No, it's not a no. But it would be best to use it when we are on mission and there's a real use for it.
[Unless this was an experiment thing. He wouldn't mind be spry.]
Sure! But we can get there faster with it, and you'll know if you like it or not. [ Not that Tidus minds going at a natural speed, but they did want to test how the guy would take to the spell, and would on the mission be a bit too late, or the right time?
He takes a few idle steps in place. ]
But I guess it's your aim that's more important. [ He gives a tilt of the head. ] Your call! It's an easy spell.
[76 had to issue a grunting chuckle at the idea that his aim was most important, but he knew that wouldn't be the case. For one, his attack visor stabilized targeting when he needed it to and otherwise, he had been a soldier for over forty years, so aim wasn't a big deal at this point because it was practically an extension of himself.
He shrugged and already began to head towards their mission objective. Time was money or so the saying went.] Fine, the faster we get there, the faster this matter is dealt with. You can cast, talk and walk at the same time, can't you?
[The kid seemed hyperactive enough. That much energy had to be good for something, and he honestly was curious of the effects but wasn't about to show too much enthusiasm. He had a reputation to uphold after all.]
[ Tidus lets out a low, unargumentative hum kept short, pointless to drag out when the guy was already heading off. It wasn’t him who felt the need to defend his old man pride of beating the youngsters, but Tidus was as ready to start heading to port as his partner obviously was. Sometimes, it was just easier to let old men be old and grumpy than argue points.
But it does take Tidus a second to figure out what he’s doing, following in pace with 76 to begin with. It really would be easier to either be standing still or running, and not this middle ground where he’s never thought to set off a Haste spell. But it’s a small consideration, Tidus studying his left arm with its fist clenched while keeping something of an eye on where he was going, ditching the plan to cast a Hastega just to be a show-off and letting his pace drop behind Soldier 76 for convenience.
So as long as Soldier doesn’t think to stop to watch or nag (in which instead, he’ll have Tidus bumping into him), Tidus lets out a grunt, a small shower of wisps in colours of polar lights--pinks and blues and greens--coming off his body before he throws open his left hand towards Soldier 76, to an effect that would be harder for 76 to miss.
Because it’s not just about what the spell does to the body, but the brief light show that occurs around it: rings of gold basking and surrounding the target as the actual effects carried within them seep into them, down through the skin and into the muscles. The body becomes lighter, easier to carry; unnaturally so, that it may be startling for someone already walking to prepare for if they have no experience with such a sudden shift to their body.
It has to be a weird sight for anyone else them around to see a guy be looped by rings.
But Tidus will still knock into 76 if stops at any point. ]
