[He was keeping his pace slow and easy, telegraphed motions that Gabe could easily tighten an arm or a leg around him to let him know that he was pushing too far too fast. Easy in and then pulling back, over and over, little by little increasing his pace so there was a bit of a rhythm to it. He worked hard not to cause unwanted pain, and he certainly wanted no regrets.
