There were multiple reasons he loved Jack's mom, and that later bit was one of the big reasons. "Would have been a heck of a shindig," even if it was kept just between family and very close friends, large enough even for being something private. An oddly nice thought for the moment, honestly.

Eyes closed and something soothed at that promise for them to both eat, silly as it might have seemed to anyone else. They needed the rest as much as they needed to eat and drink. Wrapped up in that blanket on the bed they'd rest better and would wake up warm at the very least.
