If he was aware of the snakes checking on him, he gave no sign of it. At that point, he was committed to getting some sleep, so he was aware that the snakes would keep watch over them both. That his little 'friend' had decided to come back now that it had fed wasn't unheard of, and he did nothing to dislodge it either.

A hand reached out as if searching for a blanket but gave up when one wasn't in easy reach and his hand curled over Gabriel's broad shoulder instead. Very close to the head full of snakes.
