Jack paused as the garter snake moved over to him, and he opened his cloak so that it could snuggle in closer to his body. He knew it would likely leave tonight to hunt some small creature, but for now, he was glad to have it. "I'll put wards up once you're settled and we will be safe here tonight until we can reassess your condition tomorrow."
He moved ahead of Gabriel so he could pull the blanket off of his pack and spread it out in one of the larger spots in the cave. It would allow Gabriel to curl up or spread out, but more importantly, it was hopefully big enough that he could start a fire to keep the warmth up here.
"From the impression I get, you could use with some stitches and bandaging." But that would have to wait for now. "You're safe now. When I heard word that a gorgon had been captured, I set out as quickly as I could."
